What often happens, unfortunately, is it becomes a “check the box” activity for the mentor and mentee. Schools (primary through post-secondary) should be very thoughtful and intentional when mapping out a formal teacher mentorship program. Creating a teacher mentorship program can be a fantastic way to support new and developing teachers, build a collaborative school culture, and improve overall teaching effectiveness.
